Introduction

Blue 2.0: Creating a More Connected Campus

(please see more entries by using the menus at left)

What is it?

Blue 2.0 is a self-paced, self-serve, online learning program that introduces the participant to Web 2.0 applications. It has been created to support faculty and instructors, but anyone is welcome to use it. This version is based on University of Kentucky Libraries’ Blue 2.0, which in turn was based on the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County’s Learning 2.0 program. The UK Teaching & Academic Support Center (TASC) has borrowed generously from the UK Libraries’ version to create this new Blue 2.0, and we thank them for being the trailblazer on campus. In this version, anyone at the University of Kentucky (or beyond) may use the blog as an opportunity to learn more about Web 2.0 applications, which are web-based tools that encourage creativity and collaboration.

How does it work?

Participants will explore a set of related technologies by using the Blue 2.0/Connected Campus blog. They may be working individually or in groups, and may access only a few or all of the assignment modules. Beginners are encouraged to start with the Blogs module and use their own blogs (created in the Blogs module) to track their progress. Individuals or groups may also use wikis to track their progress, especially if they are building a resource that will be useful to others, as well.

Note: Module 1: Blogs is the only numbered module, because, if you use a blog to record your progress, this module sets you up to complete the activities in all the other modules. Modules may be completed in any order, although it is recommended that if you start with Module 1: Blogs you follow it with Embedding Video and Subscribing to a Feed as #2 and #3.

“Assignments” in each module will encourage exploration and allow participants to demonstrate what they have discovered about each topic.

Explore this blog through the menus at left, or get started by clicking 1. Blogs (or the module of your choice) under “Assignment Modules” at left.
